Elise Barnes

I am a Yoga teacher specialising in Pregnancy Yoga. Previously a professional dancer, in between dance contracts I searched for a way to keep healthy and flexible and found Yoga. The focus, clarity and inner strength required for this practice provided balance in my dance career.
Inspired by my teachers, I completed my yoga teacher training at Sampoorna Yoga in Goa, India. As my practice deepened I found myself drawn to pre and post-natal yoga. I pursued this interest and earned my pregnancy yoga teacher certification with Sally Parks Yoga. I currently teach open level pregnancy, post-natal and mum and baby yoga, along with open level yoga flow classes in Orpington, Downe and Biggin Hill.

I believe yoga can be enjoyed by everybody regardless of age or physical ability, and it trains the body, heart and mind to be strong and flexible. The benefits are endless and I always try to portray the message through my classes and the practice of yoga. I aim to make all my classes fun, welcoming, with a relaxing environment and accessible to everybody so that every individual can achieve their full potential.

My passion lies in my new pregnancy classes, helping fabulous expectant and new mums through a beautiful yoga practice, to help them relax to reduce pregnancy related anxiety and help them cultivate a new awareness that will assist them through labor and delivery, and find a deeper connection with their growing baby.

I am a Registered RYT 200 Teacher and RYT 85 Pregnancy, Postnatal and Mother and Baby teacher with Yoga Alliance UK. This accreditation demonstrates excellent standards set by Yoga Alliance UK.
