Emma Stevens

Pilates and Movement Specialist

The Pilates Remedy
I started practising Pilates over 10 years ago as I was struggling with debilitating back and hip pain, symptoms of Hypermobile Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. I had tried every painkiller, injection and intervention doctors were able to offer me, and nothing worked. Then, I found Pilates and it changed everything. In a matter of a few weeks of strengthening and stretching my muscles and mobilising my joints with Pilates exercises. I began to be able to move, stand and sit without pain, and I could finally start to do cardio exercises to increase my fitness levels and lose weight. I became passionate about helping others through Pilates; to recover from and protect against pain, correct posture and become more motivated to exercise. I believe exercise should be enjoyable and beneficial to your mind, as well as your body – my classes are enjoyable and energising, with progressions and regressions for every level. I am qualified in Level 3 Pilates Matwork, Pilates with Small Equipment, Pilates for Common Orthopedic Conditions and Level 4 Advanced Mat Pilates (Case Studies in progress), and I am also qualified to teach Pilates to children and teenagers.

My special areas of interest and expertise include back pain, posture correction, hypermobility and associated syndromes, Pilates for sports and Pilates for children and teens.
