What is Vinyasa Flow yoga?
Vinyasa, which in Sanskrit means to place with awareness, is also used to describe breath linked with movement. Generally, there is no set sequence of postures in a Vinyasa Flow class; but most classes will include Sun Salutations.
Each week is based around a theme for instance, focusing on an area of the body, perhaps a “peak-pose” or perhaps linked towards something more mindful. Some weeks you will be lead you through a slower, alignment-based class where you explore each posture in more depth. Other weeks may be more dynamic, movement-based postures and sequences. In every case though, breath remains the central theme and it’s the anchor around which everything flows.
Working with the breath creates balance, stimulating the parasympathetic nervous system, also known as the body’s “rest and restore” mode.
Caroline will often weave her additional training of Restorative Yoga and Meditation into these classes and one class per block will solely be Yin/Restorative based.
